Exciting, Fresh Food Friendly White
Zonte's Footstep has been on a quest to grow the world's best white varieties for more than a decade. Their 'shining sword rising from the water' moment wasn't quite as per Arthurian legend, but never the less by a misty dam early one morning, when the first rapier-like cut of this Sauvignon Blanc inspired their very own Excalibur.
Zonte's Footstep began in 2003 when a group of mates pooled old white 'utes' and new-ish tractors to grow the best grapes from the best vineyards. All they wanted to do was taste their fruit in their wine, so they charged their reigning winemaker, Mr. Ben Riggs, with one goal; to make wine true to the vineyard so long as it is a bloody good drink!
The truth is out there in the vineyard.... but the proof is in this bottle!
This is how their late chairman Len Evans OBE made us all do it.
Vale Len. Vintage 1930; Decanted 2006.
Zonte's Excalibur has a pristine, pale straw, green hue. It tastes of pretty, lifted grapefruit/pineapple, gentle gooseberry and honeydew melon. it provides a rush of lemon/lime peel crispness. Clean, white grapefruit and gooseberry with tinges of minerality. It has a tangy, mouth-watering finish and trademark Sauvignon Blanc acidity that is flavoursome and fine with crisp lines of cleansing finish.
Enjoy:)
