Heirloom Pinot Noir 2012

Grapes & Lager

A symphony your palate awaits

Hailing from the Adelaide Hills Vineyards in Southern Australia, which is part of one of the largest wine regions in the state, reaching from Fleurieu Peninsula in the south all the way to Barossa Valley in the north. It is also one of the oldest wine growing areas in Australia dating back to the 1840s. What is truly unique about this region is the altitude of its vineyards, which ranges from 1312 feet to 1640 feet. This gives the region a cool climate, with the numerous valleys on this hilly terrain, with their different slopes and exposure to sunlight, offering a varied range of mesoclimates, making the correct site selection vital.

Created by Winemaker Ms E E G Brooks, this Heirloom Pinot Noir 2012 is both precision and expression tucked into a glass bottle. This wine embodies the very best in cutting edge but old school viticulture and winemaking. Hand tended vines, sorted bunch by bunch, naturally open fermented, basket-pressed, are stored in well-seasoned first use French oak barriques from bespoke coopers.

This Pinot Noir can grab you for a second or have you lost for an eternity of contemplation. So surrender your thoughts and just let go to the symphony your palate awaits. The Heirloom Pinot Noir 2012 has a vibrant translucent ruby red with bright see through tinges. A striking and intriguing colour of aromas of ripening cherries, and like a perfume made from ripening summer pudding fruits; raspberries, boysenberries, redcurrants and even a hint of mint and mossy forest floor. Overall this wine redolent with ripening plums and black cherry smells and the merest hint of enticing cedar and spice. The taste is initially intense sweet fruit of cherries and ripe raspberries, plums and then some black cherries, but balanced by a tangy acidity, like a summer pudding with some fresh cream and spice from the French Oak and an almost chalk like tannin structure.

 Enjoy!
