5 Star Winery
"Bright straw-green; the bouquet is instantly expressive and appealing, with lime and green apple fruit to the fore, picked up seamlessly by the palate; has clever retention of just enough residual sugar to flesh out the finish, yet balanced by acidity" - James Halliday
In 2003 James Kellie, for many years a winemaker with Howard Park, and responsible for the contract making of Harewoods wines since 1998, purchased the estate with his father and sister as partners. Events moved quickly thereafter: a 300-tonne winery was constructed, offering both contract-winemaking services for the Great Southern region and the ability to expand the Harewood range to include subregional wines that demonstrate the differences in style across the region. In January 2010 James, together with wife Careena, purchased his fathers and sisters shares in the business, and are now 100% owners. - James Halliday
It's intense and long with well-harmonised acidity. Flavour and character to burn. It's remarkably accessible now. An alluring bouquet of spices, lemon and fragrant herbs, leading into a surprisingly rich, powerful palate. Goes with grilled scallops with a green salad, lychees and mango; almost any white- or pink-fleshed fish, simply cooked and sauced with pan juices deglazed with lemon juice or verjus. Drink now to 10 years.
Enjoy :)
