(ON SALE - NO FURTHER DISCOUNTS APPLY)
For all you lovers of French whites, we've come up with an interesting combination of Cotes De Gasgogne Blanc Gros Manseng-Sauvignon Blanc 2012 and Le Hameau 'Charentes' Sauvignon Blanc 2012.
The Cotes De Gasgogne Blanc Gros Manseng-Sauvignon Blanc is from Gascony, an area of southwest France famous for its abundant green hilltops situated at the feet of the Pyrénées and alongside the coast of the Atlantic. The region has always excelled in crafting some of the most refreshing white wines in the world.
This wine is really lovely - and slightly unusual - a blend of two traditional white wine grapes of south-western France, one which has rarely ventured outside its homeland, and another which has risen to popularity all over the world.
In the vineyards of Gascony, both Gros Manseng and Sauvignon Blanc are popular varieties in their own right; blends of the two have only become popular over the past couple of decades.
This wine is a fresh alternative to the more common Sauvignon Blanc or SSB and works brilliantly, with gorgeous lemon and grapefruit flavours. Talk about zippy. Sooooo fresh. Light and zesty underneath. Will make you smile.
Lovely pre-food drink or match with simple tomato salads or chicken dishes.
Le Hameau 'Charentes' Sauvignon Blanc is from Charentes, where viticulture dates back to Roman times. The town of Cognac and the many ports along the Charente river became centres of the local wine trade.Le Hameau means a Hamlet, or small village, reflecting the fact that the grapes for this wine come from several independent growers clustered around a group of small villages. The real winemaking skill lies in selecting each parcel of grapes, all of which have slightly different characteristics, and blending them into a wine that has several 'layers' of flavour.
This has resulted in a classic French Sauvignon Blanc; fresh, clean and crisp with a steely, flinty backbone. Its fresh cut grass aromas make it ideal served chilled on its own as an aperitif or with grilled fish, prawns or goat cheese dishes.
Enjoy!
