An Italian Pinot Noir
Pinot nero is the name Italians use for their pinot noir, and this Italian version is certainly an intriguing drink. The name Pinot refers to the pinecone shape of this varietal’s tight grape bunches.
The hilly regions of the Faedo and Pressano villages in Trentino/Alta Adige, Italy provide the temperate zones that Pinot Nero thrives i
The Castel Firmian Pinot Nero 2010 is ruby red in colour with flects of garnet. It has an aroma of ripe fruits - wild cherries and strawberries, with black currant, and flowery hints of violet. The wine is more and more enriched by the scent of spices, particularly black pepper and underbrush, derived from the brief maturation process in oak barrels.
Its taste is dry with a delicate and elegant tannin structure, balanced by a pleasant acidity and fruity taste.
It is an excellent companion to white and red roasted meats, both moderately spicy, and middle season cheeses.
Enjoy :)
