About the Wine Maker

"The same bright, light straw green of the trio; this is the fullest of Harewood's three regional reislings, with ripe citrus fruit amplified by sweetness that doesn't seek to hide its light under a bushel; the wine may surprise in five years time" - James Halliday

In 2003 James Kellie, for many years a winemaker with Howard Park, and responsible for the contract making of Harewoods wines since 1998, purchased the estate with his father and sister as partners. Events moved quickly thereafter: a 300-tonne winery was constructed, offering both contract-winemaking services for the Great Southern region and the ability to expand the Harewood range to include subregional wines that demonstrate the differences in style across the region. In January 2010 James, together with wife Careena, purchased his father's and sister's shares in the business, and are now 100% owners.

Harewood Estate has again received the highest recognition possible from wine critic James Halliday in his highly anticipated 2014 Australian Wine Companion. This is the ninth consecutive year that Harewood has received the elusive rating, placing them amongst the best in Australia, and is as much a comment on the quality of wine grapes grown throughout the Great Southern region.

About the Wine

The Riesling grapes were sourced from a single site in the cool climate vineyards of the Porongurup Range in the Great Southern wine region of Western Australia. Only the finest, most pristine, “free-run” juice was used in the production of this wine resulting in a wine of outstanding elegance, free from harsh, phenolic character.  A cool ferment in stainless steel, minimal fining and the use of screw caps are all further steps towards capturing the inherent delicacy of this cool climate variety.

An exceptionally brilliant, pale, almost steely colour with youthful green tinges. Intense floral, citrus and passionfruit fragrance enhanced by a mineral spicy vibrancy. A seamless palate, with initial flavours of green apple and passionfruit leading to more austere lemons and limes. The fine structure is testament to the care taken during this wines production.

This wines youthful intensity and fruit-driven vibrancy can be enjoyed over the next two years. Cellaring for up to 20 years will be rewarded with the more complex, toastier and textured wine that is a classic aged cool-climate Riesling.A brilliant, exceptionally pale straw colour with youthful green tinges.

Enjoy:)
