Grupo Faustino is Spain's leading producer of fine wines from Rioja and one of the most celebrated names in modern Spanish winemaking. Founded 150 years ago in Rioja Alavesa by Eleuterio Martinez Arzok, Grupo Faustino has excelled in balancing tradition and modernity over the past decades. The winery received worldwide acclaim in the 1950s when descendant Julio Faustino Martinez launched the family-owned label in both national and international markets. Today, the estate is led by Don Julio Martinez along with his children.
With 1,625 acres of vineyards, Faustino's Reserva and Gran Reserva wines are all estate grown and bottled. The vineyards are located in the upper portion of the Rioja Alavesa, at an altitude of 1,200-1,800 feet. Here, the climate is relatively cool thanks to the maritime influence of the Atlantic Ocean to the north, and the vines thrive in the area's chalky soil.
WINE
Brilliant, medium to high depth. Cherry red in the centre of the glass with a garnet and tawny rim. Intense and complex to the nose. Aromas of spices and new wood (toasty, leather, vanilla, balsam).Well finished, powerful, enveloping tannic notes in the mouth that develop into an elegant meatiness and just the right acidity to match any dish. Serve between 18 degrees c and 19 degrees c. Excellent with roasted lamb, duck, pork and beef. A great accompaniment to ham croquettes, hard cheeses, and sautéed vegetables.
