Grupo Faustino is Spain's leading producer of fine wines from Rioja and one of the most celebrated names in modern Spanish winemaking. Founded 150 years ago in Rioja Alavesa by Eleuterio Martinez Arzok, Grupo Faustino has excelled in balancing tradition and modernity over the past decades. The winery received worldwide acclaim in the 1950s when descendant Julio Faustino Martinez launched the family-owned label in both national and international markets. Today, the estate is led by Don Julio Martinez along with his children.
With 1,625 acres of vineyards, Faustino's Reserva and Gran Reserva wines are all estate grown and bottled. The vineyards are located in the upper portion of the Rioja Alavesa, at an altitude of 1,200-1,800 feet. Here, the climate is relatively cool thanks to the maritime influence of the Atlantic Ocean to the north, and the vines thrive in the area's chalky soil.
WINE
The colour can be described as being a ruby clear middle layer, with no difference between meniscus and trim. Amber and Granada, bright. Overall reductive intensity. A curious nose, full of little details of quality, in which the aromas of withered flowers, cloves, bay with a very elegant and exotic smoked peppers (Sichuan, cubeba, jamaica) spicy background predominate. Bringing notes of caramel, raisins lean, creamy, which gradually give way to increased expression of traditional breeding, leather, animal, antique: hardwood, varnished furniture, oils, tung, linseed ...The palate is delicate, light, fresh, smooth and tasty, with very fine and almost amargosos spicy sensation joins an endless trail of old oak, roasted, spices ... A rested and ripe for followers of the great classic book that has ever made Rioja. Maintains proper acidity and silky tannins.
